The wrong sentence came out

I was sitting in my neighbor’s living room during a shiva call.

She had just lost a parent.

We weren’t close, but she lived down the block.

My neighbor turned to me. A small nod.

“I’m sorry my husband couldn’t make it- he’s buried in work.”

The sentence lands.

Your brain catches up.

Too late.

That wasn’t what I meant to say. It was just the fastest version my brain could reach.

Your company has two versions of what it does.

The one you wrote down-

and the one your team says without thinking.

Pressure doesn’t create that gap. It exposes it.

Ask your team what your company does.

Don’t give them time to think.
